The Fantastic Mr Fox

Well today we went and saw this movie and I thought it was absolutely wonderful. A little different from your usual animation. I thought it was very clever and Braedon enjoyed it.

One of my earlier posts, I mentioned a New Years Resolution of finishing off unfinished projects in between new ones.

After the family layout, I finished off a KA&Home Retreat Project, 'little book of texture', that I have worked on bit by bit over the last month to finish. I sort of changed it a little and added extra pages - in all 8 pages.

Family Layout

I thought it was about time I did a family layout, even though Aimee and Kody (right) live away from home now. This photo was taken when we all lived together as one family.....
Pink Paislee Amber Road papers were perfect for the photo.

Making New Years' resolutions... like in my earlier post -I'm still thinking but I found an article which provides 10 tips on achieving those resolutions...

Prof Wiseman's 10 secrets of success when making New Year resolutions:

1) Make only one resolution; your chances of success are greater when you channel energy into changing just one aspect of your behaviour.

2) Don't wait until New Year's Eve to think about your resolution and instead devote some time a few days before to reflect upon what you really want to achieve.

3) Avoid previous resolutions; deciding to re-visit a past resolution sets you up for frustration and disappointment.

4) Don't run with the crowd and go with the usual resolutions. Instead think about what you really want out of life.

5) Break your goal into a series of steps, focusing on creating sub-goals that are concrete, measurable, and time-based.

6) Tell your friends and family about your goals, thus increasing the fear of failure and eliciting support.

7) Regularly remind yourself of the benefits associated with achieving your goals by creating a checklist of how life would be better once you obtain your aim.

8) Give yourself a small reward whenever you achieve a sub-goal, thus maintaining motivation and a sense of progress.

9) Make your plans and progress concrete by keeping a hand-written journal, completing a computer spreadsheet or covering a notice board with graphs or pictures.

10) Expect to revert to your old habits from time to time. Treat any failure as a temporary set-back rather than a reason to give up altogether.

New Years Resolution

I think I'm in that mode where I don't really know what my New Year's resolutions are...

I'm still thinking about priorities. Trying to figure them out. Some I do know are.

• Try and keep hubby healthy.
• Enjoy life and be happy - focus on important stuff.
• Cherish time with BT, teach him the important stuff -
• Spend time with my grandchildren (3rd one due Feb )
  
  
• On the scrappin front...Will particpate in Craft a Live regional scrapbooking exhibitions just NSw and ACT
  
• Finish off all unfinished projects in between scrapping new layouts. So today I finished off a mini album . Something I started a while back. Random pics of Braedon as a toddler. He was so gorgeous.... still is I mean,,, take a look.

Firstly a different take on the paper bag album which is what I made - unfortunately no pics of the album under construction, but its as simple as..


I used three paper bags.

Fold them in half - so the bottom half folds up to the top. Undo your fold and placed double sided tape down each side (left and right). Refold the bag up. Fold the bag in half now from left to right. Now you have a number of pockets in your album to place tags, other photos or other bits and pieces. If you album is going to be lumpy and bumpy you will need to bind the pages on top of one another.

I filled the pockets with the journalling on different tags. one tag are his fav things at age 2. The other tags are really just stories about the things he used to do.

Caution...If its not going to be lumpy bumpy you can fit the pages inside each other. Decide before you start making your album or your pages may be in the wrong order.

Lesson learnt...... ummhhh the hard way... mine was toooo lumpy

More antique shopping

A visit to the antique markets on Sunday (can't believe it was three days ago already) and I picked up this cute Limoges antique brooch. I collect Limoges hand painted plates and now seem to have ventured into the brooch area.

Some vintage findings

I have so many blog posts in draft mode, mainly xmas related, I really have to get cracking and finish them.. before I do just sharing some vintage findings - two little items I found at the Sydney Antique Centre. We both love looking in all these little stores.. This is what I found


Not sure of the origin but it is a scent bottle complete with dauber and a little stopper. It looks to me like Indian design, I love filigree work and have picked up a few things with this type of design.

This vintage brooch was a realy bargain, 1950's design. I won't wear it as I am not a brooch person, it would look great in a scrapbooking vintage layout, lol, but I won't do that that, it will go on my shelf with all my other little findings.

The Glebe Antique fair is on 3 Jan and we will make and early start to get there before the rush. This is a great place to pick up vintage emphera and postcards
